On Tuesday 9 November at 12.00am in the room No. 021, Prešernova 17, Maribor, IZUM will hold a press conference to give a general presentation of COBISS 2004 and in particular a presentation on the Slovenian translation of AACR2 (Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules). Along with the people working on the translation of the Rules, also present at the press conference will be Barbara Tillet, an expert on AACR2 from the Library of Congress in Washington.

COBISS 2004, a conference with a long tradition, will be held from 9 to 11 November 2004 at the Habakuk Convention Centre. This year it will be dedicated to the linking of library information systems throughout the area of Central and South-Eastern Europe, referred to as the Region of Opportunities. Presentations during the Conference will deal with the basis for the existence of the links in the region; they will also present details of different aspects of co-operation regarding the relation between national and international standards, technological possibilities and librarians' qualifications. With the solid support provided by professional circles, governments and the EU Commission, it is expected that the Conference in Maribor will become a permanent international meeting point for librarians and information scientists from the Region of Opportunities.
